9 – Salsamor; Bussettin/Young mcevoy
This horse has one go at the distance against Aloisa and Cliffs edge at level weights and ran third during the Spring. Set weights with penalties suits. Blinkers go on for the first time and worked in them this week. Was scratched from Friday nights Alister Clarke at The Valley won by Cliffs Edge.
6 – Stampede; Waterhouse/Clark
Clearly sent out as pace maker for Winx in Chipping Norton. Drops from weight for age back to this grade and gets 3.5kg relief. Definitely a 2000m horse as last prep was beaten by the Australian Cup winner Harlem over 2000m. This horse should strip fitter and should lead or handy in the run.

Quinella 6, 9
Difficult to bet with confidence here with some first starters and a few horses going at the distance for the first time.
8 – Sweet Ava; Ryan/Avdulla
Avdulla chooses to stay with this filly out of Isurava (black type filly that was fav at 6 out of its 7 race starts.) With this horse his only ride for Ryan in recent months. Raced too far back in Seabrooks Sweet Embrace 11th at the 600m beaten 2 lengths. Her pattern suggests she can race on the pace and in this field she should take a sit. Never raced 2nd up so expecting sharp improvement with the Winkers on.
1 – Sunlight; McEvoy/Currie
Well it’s a very fast two year old.
Back 8 – Sweet Ava EACH WAY 1:3
Back 1 – Sunlight WIN (to cover bet only)
11 – Virtual Insanity; Hayes/Shin
Looking at the Melbourne run storming from 8th to be beaten half a length. Think the extra furlong will suit and made ground the final furlong running through the line. Shinn steers and rides Rosehill well.
5 – Spin; Snowden/Mcevoy
Watch the video see the run 7th to 2nd in the Skyline on slow going a better run than the winner Santos. Hard to line up the time but comparable to Seabrooks race. Blinkers on and Mcevoy looking for a Slipper runner for Snowden. #atonementday

Back 5 – Spin WIN
Quinella 5, 7, 11
2 – Nieta; Thompson/Williams
Ran third 1.5 lengths in September to Redzel who broke 33 to win. 3 from 3 on soft ground and just won a barrier trial on the heavy.
Rates on top for mine.
Backing 2 – Nieta WIN
9 – Hiyaam Price/Walker
Well this is the class animal of the field having run third in Pinots VRC OAKS. Won a trial over 1550m and is one of the most interesting runners of the day with a view to future races in the carnival. Expecting to sit handy and be strong on the line fresh.
Backing 9 – Hiyaam EACH WAY
8 – Life Less Ordinary; Waller/Mcevoy.
Backing this due to a strong first up record. If perhaps a little suspect at the distance Waller has several in the race so betting moves around this runner will determine the magnitude of the bet. Watch the run over 1800m and I see this first up as good.
